At 1.15am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Boundary Road, Laverton North after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a factory fire.
Firefighters arrived on scene within six minutes to find a 20m x 10m concrete tilt slab factory with tin roof fully involved in fire.
FRV crews wearing breathing apparatus established hose lines and began attacking the blaze, preventing any fire spread to adjoining properties. The blaze was contained to the structure of origin.
Nil persons present at time of fire.
An advice message was issued for heavy smoke in area.
The incident was brought under control at 1.51am, deemed suspicious and will be left with Victoria Police to investigate.
Firefighters will remain on scene for some time to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted FRV with operations.
The power, gas and water companies attended to isolate services.
The Municipal Building Surveyor was requested to attend.
