Firefighters quickly attack North Melbourne kitchen fire

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to several calls for a kitchen fire in North Melbourne just before midday on Sunday.

Crews arrived at the Errol Street scene within four minutes and found a fire in a kitchen involving a wood fired oven that had spread into the extraction system.

FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and began attacking the fire as well as preventing any fire spread.

Approximately 15 people were evacuated from the premises.

The fire was deemed under control by 12.16pm.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but will be investigated.
