Twelve firefighting appliances were immediately despatched in response to the multiple 000 calls about a house fire in Bonnie Brook on Thursday evening.
FRV Firefighters arrived at the Laing Street scene shortly after 9.30pm to find a two-storey home fully alight and threatening nearby residences.
Crews began an aggressive firefighting attack, successfully preventing it from spreading to neighbouring homes.
The two occupants were not home at the time of the fire, but firefighters undertook a search of the burning house to confirm this.
The house has been severely damaged by fire, with its top floor collapsing into the ground floor level.
The local building surveyor is attending to check the structural integrity of the property.
The fire was deemed ‘Under Control’ within 50 minutes of crews arriving, with the cause deemed accidental.
