At 12.34pm, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) supported by CFA responded to an incident on Pleasant Street, Kilsyth, after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.
The response was escalated and firefighters arrived on scene in less than five minutes to find a single storey house alight with a large amount of smoke.
Firefighters worked quickly to attack the fire and conducted a search.
The power and gas supplies were isolated.
The incident was deemed Under Control at 1pm.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and checked for fire extension by using thermal imaging cameras.
Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were on the scene.
