Templestowe house destroyed by fire

A large 40 by 40 metre house in Templestowe was destroyed by fire on Monday evening.

Callers reported seeing flames issuing from the Church Road property shortly before 6pm, with crews arriving on scene within three minutes.

All occupants had safely evacuated.

Upon arrival, crews found the top floor of the two-storey house was fully ablaze, with the fire extending into the roof.

FRV escalated the response, sending additional appliances and firefighters to attack the fire.

The firefight was challenging due to water supply issues, with a water company attending the scene to increase supply.

Windy conditions also made the fire difficult to extinguish.

Crews worked together to bring the blaze under control at 8.30pm.

A community advice notice was issued for smoke in the area.

Crews remain on scene, with a building surveyor notified.

FRV's fire investigators will investigate the cause of the fire.
