Air conditioning unit sparks house fire in Collingwood

Crews responded to several Triple Zero (000) calls around 10:30pm last night and arrived within 6 minutes to find the single storey weatherboard home well alight. Approximately 30 firefighters were dispatched to fight the blaze.

Crews entered the Alexandra Parade house and evacuated the sole occupant and placed them into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics who then rushed them to hospital.

The fire was contained to the premesis and deemed under control within 35 minutes of crews arriving on scene.

Fire Pumpers, one Rescue unit and a Teleboom were supported by three specialist vehicles. 

Crews remained on scene overnight to monitor for hot spots.

FRV was also supported by Victoria Police. 

Traffic flow on Alexandra Parade is no longer impacted by the incident.
