Altona unit fire

Approximately 20 firefighters were called to Romawi Street in Altona just before 3:30am on Monday morning, following reports of a unit fire.

FRV crews arrived on scene within six minutes and wearing breathing apparatus, immediately forced entry into the unit.

Firefighters quickly located and removed the single occupant, before commencing CPR.

The fire was declared under control at 3:43am, and firefighters contained the fire to the lounge and dining area of the unit.

Firefighters will remain on scene until the fire has been completely extinguished, and while FRV’s specialist Fire Investigation unit completes their analysis.

At the height of the fire there were five firefighting appliances on scene including a rescue unit, in addition to two other units.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are also in attendance.
