Apartment fire in Hampton East

Over 30 FRV Firefighters responded to an incident in Hampton East in the early hours of Monday morning after reports a working smoke alarm alerted residents at an apartment block

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a ground floor apartment totally involved in fire with apartments above threatened.

Crews assisted with the evacuation of residents, and worked to extinguish the blaze bringing the incident under control within 30 minutes just after 2:45am

Occupants of thr apartment block were assessed and transported into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics

The fire is being treated as suspicious, and the scene has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.

FRV Firefighters remained on scene throughout the morning to ensure the scene was safe
