Ascot Vale apartment fire brought under control

Fire Rescue Victoria crews responded to an apartment fire in Ascot Vale in the early hours of this morning, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000).

Firefighters arrived on scene within 4 minutes to find flames issuing from a second storey unit of a 3-storey complex, and immediately escalated the response.

Firefighters conducted an internal search of the dwelling to confirm all occupants had evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Wearing breathing apparatus, Over 30 firefighters attacked the blaze, bringing the fire under control within 35 minutes and containing the fire to the apartment of origin.

Adjacent apartments were evacuated for occupant safety. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Crews remained on scene overnight, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to support firefighting activities.
