Balwyn house fire brought under control

Approximately 30 firefighters responded to an incident in Balwyn just before 7pm on Monday evening after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire

Crews arrived on scene to find the fire was in a bedroom of a two story house and spreading to the roof

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters quickly entered the first floor, attacking the blaze and containing it to the bedroom and portion of the roof space

Fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated the house

The fire was brought under control by 7:23pm, with the cause of the fire yet to be determined. 

Firefighters will continue to monitor and visually check the roof space to ensure fire is extinguished before leaving the scene.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also on scene assisting with operations.
