Braybrook wrecking yard fire under control

More than 50 firefighters responded to a fire at a wrecking yard in Braybrook this afternoon.

Crews were called to the Cranwell Street address at 4.18pm after multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the incident.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find a fully involved fire involving multiple cars, and immediately escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the blaze, bringing it under control within two hours. 

Firefighters will remain on scene overnight to ensure the fire has been completely extinguished and to make the scene safe.  

At the height of the incident there were 20 FRV appliances at the scene, including nine Pumpers and two Aerial Units.  

FRV was supported on scene by SES, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police. 

EPA and Melbourne Water were also on scene. 

A community advice message has been issued as there is smoke in the area.
