Approximately 30 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Brighton on Friday evening.

Neighbours called Triple Zero (000) just before 8:30pm to report a significant fire at the Harwood Street property, with flames visible from either side of the house.

FRV crews arrived on scene in six minutes and wearing breathing apparatus, made their way inside to quickly knock down the fire.

A second FRV crew worked from the rear of the house to prevent the blaze from spreading to the roof space.

Firefighters brought it under control within 25 minutes.

Fortunately both occupants of the house had evacuated before crews arrived.

FRV crews remained on scene overnight to monitor any hotspots.
