Brighton house fire under control in 20 minutes

FRV crews responded to Brighton just after 3:35pm this afternoon, following several triple zero (000) calls from locals reporting smoke issuing from a house on St. Kilda Street.

The first crew arrived on scene within six and a half minutes.

Additional resources were responded due to a large amount of smoke in the surrounding area.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection, FRV firefighters entered the building and began attacking the fire.

Their efforts ensured the fire was contained mainly to the roof area.

Thankfully no occupants were home at the time of the fire.

The fire was deemed under control in 20 minutes, and FRV crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was totally extinguished.

At the height of the incident, there were seven FRV appliances in attendance, including one rescue and one aerial unit.

The power company attended to assist with locating and isolating the electricity. Victoria Police also attended the scene.

FRV’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit is currently on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
