Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a house fire in Broadmeadows on Tuesday evening.

FRV crews were called to the Graham Street incident around 6:40pm after a caller to Triple Zero reported flames and smoke coming from the roof of a house.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes to find the house well alight and smoke and flames billowing from the house.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the house to conduct a search, and confirmed nobody was inside.

They began an attack on the fire and brought it under control about 25 minutes after first arriving on scene.

Firefighters believed the cause to be suspicious and handed the scene over to police for further investigation.

Crews will remain on scene overnight to ensure it is safe.

FRV firefighters worked alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria at the scene.
