Candle the cause of Armadale apartment fire

A candle left burning is believed to have sparked a blaze in an Armadale apartment over the weekend.

 FRV Firefighters were called to the incident on Orrong Road in the early hours of Saturday morning after a neighbour raised the alarm.

Crews arrived at the second storey apartment within six minutes to find the coffee table on fire, and the home completely engulfed in smoke.

Firefighters worked quickly to get the incident under control in under ten minutes.

The apartment experienced significant heat damage, with the conditions melting the smoke alarm from the ceiling.

Victoria Police also attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a candle left unattended.
