Approximately 25 firefighters responded to a car and subsequent shop fire in Blackburn on Monday morning.

FRV crews were called to the Railway Road incident just after 7:00am, after reports two cars had collided and one of the cars had crashed into a shop and caught fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene in five minutes to find the shop and car alight. Nobody was inside the car or the building.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters attacked the fire and stopped it from spreading to the first floor of the building.

Specialist rescue firefighters then worked to make the scene safe and remove the vehicle from the front of the building.

One person was transferred into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
