Car wrecker fire in North Geelong under control

FRV crews were called to a wrecking yard on Thompson Road in North Geelong this morning following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a car fire.

FRV Crews from Corio and Geelong City Fire Stations arrived just after 10:20am to find multiple cars alight and commenced attacking the fire.

Crews worked quickly and were able to get the fire under control within 45 minutes, however eight cars and one shipping container were affected.

Thankfully six people who were occupying a nearby building were evacuated safely.

At the height of the incident, five FRV appliances including a ladder platform were in attendance.

CFA, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were present on the scene to support FRV, and Worksafe also attended.
