Arriving within four minutes, crews wearing breathing apparatus identified fire and smoke issuing from the roof of the 30 x 20m single-storey brick house. An internal search of the house was carried out with no persons found.
The scene was declared under control in 40 minutes. Crews will be on scene for some time monitoring hot spots. A cause is yet to be determined.
FRV is being supported by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
Road users are advised to consult Yarra Trams for potential delays on Hawthorn Road.
