Approximately 28 firefighters, including specialist Hazmat crews, responded to a chemical leak in Altona on Sunday night.

FRV crews were called to the Millers Road scene just after 10:30pm after an automatic alarm alerted them to the incident.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a chemical had spilled into a storage area.

Crews worked with on site specialists to determine the best way to control the leak, and worked to make the scene safe.

Fortunately, nobody was injured.

Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and the EPA worked alongside FRV crews on scene.

Firefighters remained on scene overnight to ensure it was safe.
