Chimney fire at Moonee Ponds repair centre

More than 25 firefighters responded to a chimney fire at a car repair centre in Moonee Ponds on Monday night.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the Mount Alexander Road fire shortly before 8.45pm.

Crews arrived on scene within four minutes.

Upon arrival, crews found a flames shooting out of the chimney flue, on top of the spray booth and out of the chimney.

Crews immediately escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews entered the premises and started attacking the fire.

An aerial appliance we deployed to attack the fire from above.

Firefighters brought the scene under control at 9.40pm

Ambulance Victoria paramedics attended the scene.

Victoria Police also attended to manage traffic.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. 

WorkSafe has been notified of the incident.
