Attributable to an FRV spokesperson:
The safety of the community, first responders and Viva Energy employees has been and remains our highest priority.
While the fire at the refinery has been extinguished, FRV continues to manage the incident, and firefighters remain at the scene to ensure there is no risk.
Work continues on site to make it safe for FRV and WorkSafe to investigate the cause of the fire. They are being assisted by Energy Safe Victoria. Viva Energy is providing assistance to support the investigation.
FRV has atmospheric monitoring equipment on site to locate and treat leaks as they appear.
FRV has conducted air quality, surface and water runoff testing and there are no contamination concerns for the community. Viva Energy's environmental experts are also supporting FRV with testing on site.
Once the scene has been made safe, the incident will be handed over to Viva Energy for the beginning of recovery activities and the continued operation of the site.
The Community Advice message has been downgraded to a Community Information message in line with the reduced risk.
There will be a community meeting tomorrow for local community members to discuss any disruptions for the surrounding community.
