Sixty FRV firefighters successfully contained a large factory fire in Williamstown North in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Crews arrived at the Kororoit Creek Road scene at 2.15am, to find a factory fully alight.

The factory was for a business providing environmental services, such as air quality testing.

Commander Brayden Sinnamon said upon arrival, crews found the large fire was threatening neighbouring properties.

Crews immediately escalated the response, sending additional appliances and personnel, and launched an aggressive attack.

Crews did an outstanding job to contain the fire to the building of origin, Commander Sinnamon said.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 3.45am.

FRV's fire investigators attended the scene on Sunday morning and deemed the fire suspicious.

The incident has now been handed to Victoria Police to investigate.
