Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident in North Circular Road, Gladstone Park, at approximaely 4.15 am after a call reported a house fire.
Crews arrived on scene within two minutes to find the front of the single storey, brick veneer, house fully involved in fire, so the response was escalated.
FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and began attacking the fire in the front rooms as well as preventing any further fire spread throughout the whole house and to adjoining properties.
Two adults and five children safely evacuated and were assessed by Amublance Victoria.
The fire was deemed under control by 4.45am.
The cause of the fire is suspicious, and it will be investigated by Victoria Police specialists.
Firefighters remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
Eight appliances and 28 firefighters were committed to the firefight.
