Crews contain Collingwood house fire

At 10.13pm on Friday 6 February, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to an incident on Johnston Street, Collingwood after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a house fire.

Firefighters arrived on-scene within six minutes to find a vacant two storey double-brick townhouse with fire on the second floor.

FRV crews in breathing apparatus using 38mm hose lines contained the fire to the second floor of structure. An aerial appliance was used to assist in extinguishing fire in roof space.

A search found no occupants present in the building.

The incident was deemed under control at 11.01pm.

Power and gas companies isolated services. A building surveyor was requested to attend in daylight hours.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to assist FRV operations

The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
