Crews contain house fire in Richmond

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a house on fire in Richmond on Sunday evening, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) at 8.34pm.

Crews arrived at the Longfield Street scene within four minutes to find the single storey brick veneer house and bungalow on fire.

FRV crews donned breathing apparatus and entered the burning house to attack the fire. Firefighters encountered a high fuel load and debris, which hindered operations.

Through there quick work, firefighters were able to contain the fire to one home in a duplex structure. The house sustained significant damage in the fire, and the bungalow was destroyed.

The fire started in the bungalow at the property before spreading through vegetation to the house.

The fire was declared under control at 09:38pm.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but will be investigated by the FRV Fire Investigation Unit.
