Crews quickly contain Burnley warehouse fire

More than 25 FRV firefighters responded to a fire at a brick warehouse in Burnley on Wednesday afternoon.

Crews arrived at the Gibdon Street scene shortly after 3.10pm, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported hearing an explosion. 

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews entered the building and located the fire in the roof space.

Crews quickly attacked the fire, bringing it under control by 3.40pm.

The building was next to a power substation, and an electrical transformer has been impacted by firefighting operations.

A power company has been contacted to make the scene safe.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria personnel also attended.
