More than 25 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Mill Park in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a fire at a neighbouring property shortly after 4am.

Firefighters arrived at the Pindari Avenue scene within seven minutes.

Upon arrival, crews found the back of the single-storey brick veneer property was well alight, and immediately escalated the response.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews searched the property. Fortunately, there were no occupants in the house at the time of the incident.

Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze to the rear of the property, however the house sustained significant damage.

The fire was declared under control within 22 minutes of crews arriving, shortly after 4.30am.

At the height of the incident there were 10 FRV firefighting appliances on scene, including five pumpers and an aerial unit.

CFA firefighters assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, and FRV’s specialist fire investigators will investigate the cause.
