FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Sunshine West this morning after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the incident just after 4 am.
Crews arrived to the Fremont Parade scene within seven minutes to find a fire in a ground floor lounge room of a two storey brick house and two people trapped on an upstairs balcony.
The two residents were safety rescued from the balcony by firefighters who were able to gain access with a ladder.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the lounge room with the incident brought under control at 4:28 am.
The home sustained extensive damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation by fire investigators.
Ambulance Victoria also attended the scene.
