More than 25 FRV firefighters responded to a fast-spreading grassfire in Weir Views on Wednesday afternoon.
A caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the fire just after 4.50pm.
Crews arrived at the Marriott Boulevard scene within eight minutes, where they found a grassfire close to homes.
Crews worked quickly to attack the fire, bringing it under control by 5.35pm.
FRV crews were supported by the CFA at the incident.
Crews will remain on scene to fully extinguish the fire.
Victoria Police is on scene.
There is currently an advice message issued for the area due to significant smoke issuing from the scene.
There is currently no threat to you, but community members should stay informed and monitor conditions.
