Wednesday 26 August 2020 7:33pm

Approximately 24 FRV firefighters responded to a house fire in Altona Meadows on Wednesday night.

FRV crews were called to the Victoria Street address just before 10:00pm, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the blaze.

The first crews arrived in six minutes to find the house well alight and the fire spreading into the roof space.

Fortunately, all occupants had safely self-evacuated.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the house and worked to prevent the fire spreading further, bringing it under control within 50 minutes.

Firefighters also rescued a dog which had become trapped in the home.

Specialist fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
