FRV crews arrived within four minutes to find a significant amount of smoke and flames emitting from a dwelling above a shopfront and quickly entered the premises to make the scene safe.
Wearing Breathing Apparatus firefighters were able to identify all occupants and rescue them from the blaze. One person was placed into the care of Ambulance Victoria Paramedics. FRV was also supported by Victoria Police.
The scene was brought under control in 23 minutes and prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining dwellings and businesses.
Five Pumpers, a Rescue and a Teleboom were assisted by three support and specialist vehicles.
Glenferrie Road was closed in both directions during the incident but has since been reopened.
