Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) fire crews were called to a three story residential apartment block in Albert Street, East Melbourne just before 2:15am this morning.
On arrival fire fighters were faced with a ground floor apartment engulfed in flames and immediately commenced evacuating the entire building.
The fire was was contained to the apartment and bought under control within 25 minutes and extinguished shortly after.
The apartment has significant fire damage and the cause is of an electrical in nature.
Victoria Police were requested to assist.
