Eastern Freeway truck fire now under control

Approximately 26 FRV firefighters responded to a truck fire in Doncaster outbound on the Eastern freeway near the Elgar road off ramp at 10:37am.

The truck is believed to contain toilet paper which caused a significant amount of smoke and some spot fires in adjoining median strips.

Thankfully there are no reported injuries.

Four pumpers, three pumper tankers and two specialist vehicles were supported by two CFA appliances and have brought the incident under control after almost 2 hours.

FRV was also supported by Victoria Police and VicRoads.

The Eastern Freeway was closed in both directions but is now partially open. Road users are advised to avoid the area if possible.
