The first FRV appliance was on scene within six minutes, with seven firefighting appliances responding including Hazmat and Breathing Apparatus units from Caroline Springs, Deer Park and South Melbourne Fire Stations.

A community advice message was issued for residents in Cairnlea, Deer Park, and Ardeer advising them to close windows and doors, and turn off their air conditioning units.

Firefighters contained the chemical leak at around 12.25pm.

Crews remain on scene and are continuing to work to make the area safe for re-entry.

Thankfully, all occupants were safely evacuated and there were no reports of injury.

FRV worked with Victoria Police and WorkSafe to ensure the safety of employees and the nearby community.
