Firefighters from Dandenong, Springvale, and Hallam Fire Stations made their way to the incident just after 2:10pm following multiple calls to triple zero (000).

A worker in the factory reported lots of flames and smoke visible.

When crews arrived on scene they were met with a fire in a boiler room within a concrete structure of a factory that was 80 x 40m in size.

Approximately 30 firefighters worked to get the fire under control within half an hour.

There were more than 20 people inside the factory at the time, thankfully they all evacuated to an assembly area without injury.

The factory was extremely smoke logged and a community warning was issued for residents in Bangholme and Dandenong South.

FRV’s specialist Fire Investigation Unit will attend the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

FRV was also supported by CFA and Victoria Police, and WorkSafe has been notified.
