Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) firefighters are currently on scene in Fawkner following a fatal house fire this afternoon.
Crews were called to the property in in Dorothy Street just after 4.15pm following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls and arrived within six minutes to find a single-story brick house on fire.
FRV crews in breathing apparatus quickly conducted an internal search of the house to look for occupants. They located and removed a young child.
The child was treated by paramedics but sadly passed away at the scene.
Another adult patient is receiving medical treatment.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze shortly after 3pm.
Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
