Fatal house fire in Werribee

A child has died following a house fire in Werribee overnight.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), supported by our CFA colleagues, were called to the address at Newbury Street just after midnight, following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000).

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a single-storey brick home, approximately 20m by 15m, fully involved with fire.

Crews worked together to extinguish the blaze, bringing the incident under control by 1.13am.

One occupant has been transported to hospital by Ambulance Victoria.

Firefighters remain on scene to ensure the safety of the area.

The cause of the fire will be investigated.

Victoria Police was also in attendance.

Peer support and counselling have been made available to first responders.

Approximately 40 firefighters attended this incident.
