Fifty firefighters bring Mickleham house fire under control

Multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) were received just after 7am this morning for a single storey brick house on fire on Mickleham road, Mickleham. Callers stated smoke and flames were seen coming from the back of the house.

13 FRV appliances, including eight pumper tankers and an aerial unit, arrived on scene within 8 minutes of receiving the first call to find the house fully alight.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus surrounded the home using water hoses to extinguish the fire. There was no threat to neighbouring properties.

The fire was declared under control after 35 mins of arriving on scene. No persons were inside the home at the time of the fire.

At the height of the fire approximately fifty FRV fire-fighters were in attendance, assisted by CFA crews on scene.

At this early stage it is not known what caused the fire.
