Fire at Ascot Vale unit

Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a unit fire in Ascot Vale on Tuesday afternoon.

Several callers to Triple Zero (000) reported smoke coming from the roof and door of a unit on Dunlop Avenue just after 4:00pm.

FRV crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a unit on fire on the third level of a large complex.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters entered the unit to contain the fire, and brought it under control in 19 minutes.

FRV crews remained on scene to ensure the fire had not spread to adjoining units in the complex.

Specialist fire investigators are working to determine the cause.
