Fire at Campbellfield factory under control quickly

Firefighters responded to Campbellfield just after 7am this morning, following reports of smoke issuing from a roller door at a factory on Malcolm Place.

Initial crews arrived on scene within seven minutes, forcing entry into the building to commence a search.  

Thankfully, there were no occupants inside the 15m x 30m, double storey factory.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection from the smoke, they attacked the fire and brought it under control within 25 minutes.

The fire was contained to a vehicle that was inside at the rear of the factory however there was heavy smoke logging throughout.

Additional resources were deployed to ensure the adjoining factories were protected from the fire.

There was a lot of smoke in the surrounding area, and a community advice message was issued for residents in Campbellfield, Thomastown, Dallas, and Coolaroo.

At the height of the incident there were approximately 28 firefighters on scene, on board seven firefighting appliances including an aerial and rescue unit.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police assisted FRV during the incident.
