Fire contained to second story of Mulgrave building

FRV responded to a fire in Mulgrave just after 4:30am on Wednesday morning after a caller to Triple Zero (000) reported the strong smell of smoke and a visible haze.

29 FRV firefighters arrived at the Albert Court address to find a large amount of smoke coming from an old building.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked to gain access to the building and conducted a primary search for any occupants.

Once the building was confirmed to be vacant, Firefighters attacked the fire and were able to contain it to the second floor of the building.

The incident was brought under control in an hour and 17 minutes.

CFA crews attended the scene and worked alongside FRV firefighters.

Ambulance Victoria attended for firefighter welfare.

At this stage the fire is being treated as suspicious, and the incident has been handed over to Victoria Police.
