Fire at Point Cook salon under control quickly

FRV crews responded to an automatic fire alarm on Main Street in Point Cook just before 1am this morning.

Crews arrived on scene to find a fire in a nail salon within a shopping centre.

The response was quickly escalated as crews donned breathing apparatus to enter the premises and attack the fire.  

Smoke filled the small shopping centre and the sprinkler system had also been activated.

At the height of the incident, 11 FRV appliances were present, including an aerial appliance

FRV crews contained the fire to the nail salon and bought the fire under control in 30 minutes.

FRV crews then checked for fire hot spots within the salon and worked to clear the smoke from the centre.

Gas and power companies were on scene to ensure the building’s supply was secure and CFA attended to assist FRV crews.

FRV’s specialist Fire Investigators are on scene determining the cause of the fire.
