At 3:33AM, Fire Rescue Victoria responded to an incident in Greenvale after callers to Triple Zero reported a house fire.
FRV arrived on scene quickly and escalated the response as fire engulfed the single storey brick veneer house.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and attacked the fire externally due to the intensity of the blaze. Hose lines were used to protect a neighbouring home that was under threat.
CFA firefighters assisted FRV on scene.
A male resident and his 5 year old daughter were able to escape the fire with minor injuries.
A Community Safety Advice was issued as thick black smoke issued across the neighbourhood.
The fire was declared under control at 04:22AM, 41 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.
The house was extensively damaged in the blaze. Firefighters remain on scene this morning to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
The fire has been deemed as suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police after.
