Fire in the roof of Craigieburn home under control quickly

Approximately 24 FRV Firefighters responded to a house fire in Craigieburn just before 10:30am on Friday morning.

The first FRV crew arrived on scene in less than six minutes and found a fire had taken hold in the roof of a single storey brick home on Mitford Street.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection, crews entered the property to search for occupants and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters quickly surrounded the house with hose lines and worked to bring the fire under control.

Thankfully all occupants were accounted for and there are no reports of injury.

Crews on scene were able to bring the fire under control by 10:42am, within just 20 minutes of their arrival.

Firefighters will remain on scene until they are confident the fire has been completely extinguished.

At this stage it is not clear what caused the blaze to start however this will be investigated.

At the height of the blaze there were five pumpers, a rescue unit, an aerial teleboom unit and three other Command and support units at the incident.

FRV was supported at the scene by Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.
