Fire takes hold of St Albans restaurant

Approximately 30 firefighters responded to Main Road in St Albans overnight, following reports of a fire just before 1:30am.

FRV crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find a large amount of smoke issuing from the roof of a restaurant.

Firefighters entered the building to locate the seat of the fire and attacked the blaze internally.

Crews worked for around 50 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the scene.

A Community Advice message was issued for smoke in the area.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but FRV’s fire investigators will attend the scene later today.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted FRV at the scene.
