FRV recruitment applications open April 2023

If you have an interest in firefighting you will soon have an opportunity to turn your dream into a reality.

Applications for Fire Rescue Victoria’s (FRV’s) next round of firefighter recruitment will be open from 19 – 26 April 2023.

We are excited to start training the next generation of firefighters.

Acting Fire Rescue Commissioner Gavin Freeman said firefighting was a challenging and rewarding career, which was suited to people from all walks of life.

“Firefighters are people who are driven to serve and protect the Victorian community, providing crucial, life-saving assistance,” Acting Commissioner Freeman said.

“Whether they are responding to fires, complex rescues or medical incidents, firefighters must work well in a team and act decisively under pressure.”

“FRV is looking for people who have strong problem-solving skills and demonstrate integrity, accountability and appropriate all-round strength and fitness.”

“We welcome people from different backgrounds, and we want our organisation to reflect the diversity of the community we serve.”

“No previous firefighting experience is necessary, and all training is provided.”

There are 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state, consisting of 47 fire stations in metropolitan Melbourne and 38 regional stations.

FRV staff are highly trained and ready to respond to emergencies across Victoria, Australia, and the world.
