FRV firefighters attended a house fire in St Kilda after a caller to Triple Zero (000) just before 9:40 am reported smoke and flames.

Crews arrived to the Sidwell Avenue scene to find a fire in a single storey bungalow at the rear of a house.

FRV immediately escalated the response to a second alarm with additional fire appliances responding to the incident.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters quickly attacked the blaze using water lines, and prevented the fire from spreading to the main house.

The fire was declared under control at 9 :59 am

Thankfully there were no occupants in the bungalow at the time of the incident with four people self-evacuating from the main house.

The cause of the fire is still to be determined but is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
