Firefighters battle apartment fire in Ascot Vale

FRV firefighters responded to an apartment fire on Churchill Avenue in Ascot Vale shortly after 4.00am this morning.

Multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) reported the third floor of the apartment building ablaze.

Crews arrived within four minutes and worked to safely evacuate a small number of residents from the building, before transferring them into the care of Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

Wearing breathing apparatus, more than 35 firefighters worked quickly to attack the fire, bringing it under control at 4.33am.

FRV Fire Investigators will attend the scene today to investigate the cause of the incident.

Victoria Police also attended.
