Firefighters battle Broadmeadows apartment fire

40 FRV firefighters responded to an apartment fire on Pearcedale Parade in Broadmeadows just before 4.15pm on Monday afternoon.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) reported the third floor of the apartment building to be fully alight.

Arriving in four minutes, firefighters quickly escalated the response.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus undertook a search of the apartment complex, evacuating approximately 25 occupants from the premise.

The fire had begun to spread from the apartment to the fourth floor and to a neighbouring premise.

Crews attacked the flames, bringing the incident under control within 25 minutes from crews’ first arrival, at 4.45pm.

Firefighters remain at the scene to ensure the fire is completely extinguished and the site is safe.

One patient was attended to at the scene by Ambulance Victoria paramedics, who transported them to hospital.

At the height of the incident, there were 10 FRV appliances on scene, including eight Pumpers, one Rescue Unit and one Aerial Unit.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and the scene has been handed to Victoria Police for investigation.
