Firefighters battle Burnley shop fire

Fire Rescue Victoria responded to an incident on Burnley St at 5:00am this morning following calls to Triple Zero (000) reporting a shop fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene in 6 minutes, and an escalated response was given as crews battled to contain the fire which had spread from the original business into the common roofline, threatening adjoining businesses.

The fire was declared under control at 5:53am, unfortunately, a total of three shops have been severely damaged in the blaze.

FRV crews will remain on scene until this afternoon, monitoring hot spots within the structure.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not deemed to be suspicious.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were both on scene to assist FRV operations.
